Patty - you were ahead of me, but I am right behind you! I became active in conserving resources in the early 90s....volunteer work with The Junior League of Eastern Fairfield County in Connecticut, took it with me to Ecuador, and down to Florida. Along the way, I visited the dump in Quito, Ecuador, the Garbage Museum/Recycling Center in Stratford, CT (check out the website) and the Solid Waste Authority in West Palm Beach, Florida - my current resume reads that I am seeking work as an educator and incorporating my passions in environmental education, children's literature art and music. One of my peak experiences to date, was meeting Lynne Cherry, author of The Great Kapok Tree, at the 2008 League of Environmental Educators of Florida Conference. One of my goals is to write a children's book about the life of a stick.

Thanks Patty! I enjoyed hearing about the history of Marin Sanitary Facility. For those who have not been there, it is a must to see how garbage is separated and recycled.

Go Patty! Incredible information for all of us - we make this stuff! Haulers just move it around. Reduce, reduce, reduce!
