.....of leftovers and upcomings and buttons and bugs and paperclips and hairclips eyeliner and lipstick you name it and we are storing it in a glass. I dont know when it all began really...in the never ending to quest to replace tupperware and baggies in my life I suppose....that and the never ending pursuit of the least offensive packaging.
Basically if I have to buy prepared food, like yogurt, peanut butter, jelly, honey, soup, pickles, saurkraut etc., I try my damndest to buy only that which is available in glass jars and on a really good day with a metal lid. No cans and no plastic. Initially I did this for recycling purposes. Simultaneously though, I was ridding our house of unnecessary plastics and food storage items were first on the hit list. I began to amass a lovely collection of varying shapes and sizes of reusable glass jars just about the same time my plastic storage options were dwindling and voila....the perfect solution. Better than recycling all of these beautiful glass jars I am reusing them to store snacks, sweet treats, baked goods...everything. The best part is I love the way it all looks now, almost apothecary like...very aesthetically pleasing and old fashioned like Martha Stewart gone Eco! The best part is I have no more baggies and no more yucky tupperware that is stained orange from tomato sauce....that had to be a warning, right? ugh....
