Feeding Citrus Tree with organic Fertilizer

Citrus trees including lemon, tangerine, oranges and limes are good sources of Vitamin C. If you want to decorate your lawn with sweet-smelling fruits, then citrus trees would be good. You just need to take note of some important things to come up with the best result. That includes organic fertilizer.

Citrus trees need much nitrogen. To meet that need, you can gather your grass clippings and dried animal manure. You need not buy chemical-based fertilizers because organic would be best. Since citrus trees do not really love mulch, see to it that you do not touch the root system when applying the clippings and the manure. You may shovel those around the tree’s trunk just to make sure.

To achieve good fruits, work on the Phosphorus. You may buy phosphate rock because it contains calcium and the Phosphorus on it is good enough to sustain the flower production of the tree. As an alternative, you can also use bone meal but the only problem with it is that you are not sure that it’s 100% organic.

To complete the nutrients needed by the citrus tree, apply compost. You can do it on your own through vermicomposting. In fact, it is more recommended because if you will be the one to do it, you are sure that the compost you’re using is really organic. You can also manage your waste inside your home if you do this. Wait until the product becomes really dark before you apply it in the tree. Then, out of the compost, you can make a compost tea and spray it to the tree’s leaves. This will allow more nutrients ready for leaves’ absorption. It will also help to control if not to prevent the pests from attacking the tree.

You can feed your citrus tree with organic fertilizer every six weeks. Doing this will ensure that you get all the benefits that it has to offer you.
